The warm spring sun is great after all that chilly rain. It does mean tying down the vines is now a race against time before the buds start to open. Matthew is just finishing the 67 rows of Cabernet Sauvignon. Beans is just enjoying the sun!

The really old vines are often over sixty years old. As they reach the end of their lives they become a whole little ecosystem of their own..
I was not fast enough here to photograph the thrush finishing a snail breakfast. This is the time of year we take out any dead vines. They are not wasted though, they heat our house. |
