Sommeliers International invited around forty vignerons to present their wines inToulouse. They chose wines they think are especially interesting. We were asked to present our 2011 Cabernet Franc/Merlot and our 2012 dry White. Humphrey is looking very cheerful at the great reviews both received.
Speckly freckles the dark hen, is the leader of this flock. They are brilliant egg layers and keep pests down too. Beano can be spotted (top right) keeping an eye on them.
The vines have all had their branch ( latte ),tied to the wires and their buds have opened.
Above shows the Merlot three weeks ago and below are the same vines today. They are at a very vulnerable moment with flowers just showing. The threats now are mildew, odium and frost. We can spray against the first two with a sulphur mix. The last is highly unlikely but given the unpredictable weather patterns of the last few years who knows?
