Up at dawn before it get too hot. We are just finishing the big job of relevage or re lifting. This entails getting the vines up hire onto their wires and securing them. It is a manual labour that beats going to the gym as a workout for all muscles - or if overdone a hernia! We are into the last 40 rows of 400. The photo below shows what we spray to avoid. Mildew. The affected bunch, top left, has no grapes and the leaf is brown and dying. This branch was trailing on the ground which is why it was badly caught. That is why we ensure the lifting process is thorough.

Malcolm is the first customer to buy our wine in its new cartons. Our hare symbol graces our beautiful new cartons. In unbleached brown cardboard they are pretty and more eco than the white ones. |
