Yesterday we harvested our Cabernet Franc. What a classic year this is going to be. Stunning berries. Here above the harvesting machine (we share with a dozen other family size vineyards) tips the grapes into the wine trailer. Then into the vat to ferment for about 20 days. The harvesting machine started before dawn and the picking was complete by 8.00am.then from trailer to press via the 'pig' pump. Lovely clean berries and delicious juice. Next Tuesday,8th September will be our first harvest day if all goes according to plan. Sauvignon Blanc. Meanwhile the deer do not deserve ALL the blame for the grapes eaten in the night. |
